Blog : Lighting

                                               Blog  : Lighting

Welcome back to my blog! Today I will be talking about lighting in our film opening process!

Lighting

Our film opening takes place in the nighttime, so the whole opening is low key lighting. We mainly only had one or two lights to light each scene. We did not do any 3 point lighting due to the fact that we wanted to keep it dark and eerie. We also did this due to the fact that our film is a horror/thriller, which typically has dark lighting. While this made our shots come out good, it was very very very difficult to get this lighting right. It was either to bright, to dark, or just way to noticeable that it was artificial lighting.

Bigger budget?

Since we already borrowed equipment from BEACON TV, we had good light sources. We had a really nice light that had special effects, and had a "candle" effect to flicker. We used this effect a lot to set the film vibe. This light also had settings for saturation and intensity, which we fully took advantage of. If we had a bigger budget we probably would have done some things a little differently. We probably would have gotten a bigger light, preferably with a taller stand so that we wouldn't have to hold it up.
