  A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE

                                                Arial shot/ Birds eye view/High angle

This is an arial shot that is used toward the beginning of the movie. It is placed right after the 'monsters' and destruction first occur. This angle sets the scene and is used to show the magnitude of destruction throughout the entire city. It makes me feel bad for the character's and helps me understand their situation on a deeper level throughout the film.

                                                                        High angle

In this high angle shot the camera looks down on the subjects, showing their weakness. This adds to the story because it is placed at a scene where the characters are hiding from the monsters. A loud 'boom' had just occurred, and they are powerless compared to the threat that they are hiding from. This scene is meant to evoke fear and anxiety. The camera angle helps to do that by showing just how vulnerable and helpless the people are. This makes me feel bad for them, and also anxious about what is going to occur.

                                                                        Close up shot

This close up shot shows the main characters face up close. I can see the horror she is experiencing, and it adds an extra layer of emotion to the audience as they witness her tears and truly frightened facial expression. It shows me that her character is shocked and doesn't know what to do. It adds an extra layer of personality and intimacy between the character and the audience, causing a sense of sympathy.

                                                                        Low angle 

This low angle shot is placed in the second half of the film. In this scene the two main characters are running from the monsters. It shows that the monsters are stronger and more powerful than these characters. It increases the tension and fright in the scene by showing that they have no chance of survival against this superior and better being. It makes me feel scared for the characters and adds an overall feeling of suspense. 

                                                                        Wide shot

This wide shot shows the destruction and adds to the story by allowing the audience to understand the trauma that the characters have all endured. It makes me see how small the character is compared to the world and mass destruction. It evokes a feeling of unimportance and weakness. Also, this scene is placed when the main character is 'stocking up' on food and items in an abandoned store. It emphasizes how alone she is, and this shot also shows that.

                                                               Canted angle/Dutch angle

This canted angle shows the unease and instability that the movie tries to capture. It adds to the story by showing how disoriented everyone is due to the destruction and chaotic events going on. It makes me feel empathy toward the characters, especially the main character in this scene, because of what she is going through. Originally, she was sick, before any of the monsters came. She was lost and now this is an added confusion in her life.

                                                    Arial shots/birds eye view/ High angle

This is another arial shot that is used to show the destruction, but also to put emphasis on the Brooklyn bridge which is being exploded. This, as the other one, shows the scene and the overall destruction. It sets the sad and devastating mood of the overall movie.
