Blog: Color in our project

Blog : Color in our project

Welcome back to my blog! Today I will be talking about how we plan to incorporate color and color theory into out film opening.

Backgrounds/scenes

The pool will have a blue light shining in it, which will show the pool giving off a light blue glow. Blue is the color of trust and calmness, so it shows that Madison(Samantha)(Me) feels safe and at peace in the pool when she swims. It shows that she is unaware and oblivious to what will happen next.

It will be nighttime, which means that the background will be dark and scary. This will also add to the overall feeling and vibe of the story.

The sleepover will also be shot in a dark "candle lit" family room. The yellow of the light shows warmth and happiness. The blankets that the characters will be sitting on will be light pink and blue with fun characters. We decided on these colors because it shows the innocence, femininity, and youthfulness of these characters. It makes the film scarier once you see what happens.

The title sequence with the polaroid's, and cards will be lowkey lighting. The polaroid's and "sorry" will be written in fake blood. The red shows the violence, death, and adds to the scary thriller aspect.

Costumes

Killer - You will only be able to see the killer's arm and hand. You will see that the killer has on a black glove and black hoodie on his arm. The color black symbolizes mystery, evil, and suspense. It shows that this character has ill intentions and will be the villain. The lighting will be lowkey and it will be nighttime.

Teenagers - All of the teenagers will be wearing comfy pajama bottoms and shirts. These are all in different fun colors which are just meant to show that they are all just normal kids who are innocently playing this fun sleepover game.

Madison (Me) swimming - For the swimming scene Madison (me) will be wearing a blue one piece. This will also show that she is calm and unafraid. The bathing suit will barely be seen as all of the scenes will be her doing laps, and then just her head coming out when she gets drowned.
