Blog : Classmate Critique!

I critiqued two classmates blogs; Sofia Ali and Amaya Beauvoir

For Sofia I critiqued her over the shoulder shot and her full shot. Her over the shoulder shot, really gave me a good sense of the relationship between her two subject characters. It showed me their friendship and the happiness in their short conversation. The shot made me feel like I had an inside view into their relationship and the atmosphere between them. Her full shot allowed me to see the subjects whole body, as well as the background. It helps draw my attention to the subject and it made me feel like I understood what was happening.

For Amaya I critiqued her close up and follow shot. Her close up shot allowed me to see the rather small flower in great detail. It gave me a feeling of calm, and like I fully understood because I could see all of the small details and vibrant colors of the plant. The follow shot allowed me to see the setting and the body language of the subject. When watching it I felt like I was part of the scene and more informed on the subject and what was happening. This made it more enjoyable and worth watching in my opinion.

Blog : Camera Shots and Angles Blog

Blog : Camera Shots and Angles Blog

 Low angle Cowboy shot

The purpose of a low angle shot is to make the subject seem important, and powerful. It can show the audience that the character is intimidating or heroic. The cowboy shot stops right after the hip and is usually used to show some type of weapon on the character's hip. It also allows the audience to see most of the subject's body language and facial expressions.

For this shot I had my friend (Sofia A.), stand on a bench while I also bent down and tilted my camera up. This took a few tries to get the exact angle that I wanted, showing that she was looking around 'worry free'. I also wanted to show that it was windy with her hair blowing, to show the weather conditions and current setting.
